Can Kurt Vonnegut really be dead as an author? Medically, to friends and family, sure, and now there's this bizarrely uncertain suspicion that we won't be able to read anything new, but then as an author did he die when he finished his last piece of writing? For me, Kurt Vonnegut is not dead, because I haven't finished reading.

We all have things about our friends that make us slightly envious. Not in a bad way, but in a 'Wow! I wish I had that person's hair/eyes/money/relationship/toenails/whatever.'

So tell me what about me makes you envy me. . . then post this in your LJ and see what makes me envious of you.

I love your hair and your artistic abilities. Also, I wish I could play guitar :)

You are a very assertive Hanjabanja when it counts.

You can sing and play guitar and make prettiful pictures, innit.

I suspect you're much more focused than me. It wouldn't be hard.

I also wish I could flex my toesies.

I am jealous of your musical and artistic talent. I love drawing but am not very good, and I can't sing for shit :o)

I envy your music talents and your multiple passports and your ability to look fabulous in photos, whatever face you're pulling. I also envy how well you seem to get on with your brother, but then I envy anyone with an ace close family.

My sister hits me too. But usually only when I deserve it.

I just finished my first Vonnegut book, Hocus Pocus, the night before last.

I'm a little confused about what to make of his writing. Kinda felt like he missed the buttons he was aiming for, but I think that's because I am not an American reader. Seemed like he was stating the obvious a little bit too. Then again, the book is 17 years old so maybe it was a bit less well trodden ground back then.

Anyway, it was interesting enough for me to go look up his biography and I'll probably read something else of his when I come across it.

Well, aside from the obvious fantastic muscal ability and singing voice, I envy well, the thing that used to be on your profile about your outlook on the world, about just trying to make things better for people (unless I'm remembering it wrong!) despite valuing yourself so lowly, the only thing you have to give is yourself, etc. It's one of the influences that have made me try and make the world better too, although I'm only doing it in small ways. I have a killer headache and could never really put into words what I thought about the old text on your profile anyway, but yeah. Makes me sad that you don't value yourself much, but the way you wrote it and what you wrote was rather beautiful, I thought.

i envy your artistic ability (especially being able to paint/draw so well), your ability to get and hold a beautiful tan and the close relationship you have with ben.

Mm, yes, I envy their sibling relationship, and have done for years. Possibly ever since I've known them. Hannah, really, I envy everything about you. It's all good. (apart from the toenails! but then, they're pretty cool too) xx

Your musical ability, your smile, and your bouncy feet when you sing.

What I've seen of your musicking and arting made me entirely envious, as did the interesting travelling you seem to do.

You have glee, from what I can see, a marvelously pleasing quality.

Also, and I've no way of knowing for sure, possibly ghee.
Glee!

Also: So it goes...

Although everyone said it - the musics and the singing and the painting, doesn't make it any the less true.

You also have a remarkable and very rare ability to be honest, about life and about yourself. That is a good thing.

And the whole island volunteering thing. I'd like to do something like that, it sounded awesome. And being qualified in and knowing lots about something so eminently useful.

Your songs and singing and guitar playing. And the way that you can enthrall a room with them.

Basically for proving that I'm just rubbish and it's not that my guitar is broken ;)
