The Hero as a King:
p 258 "Plausibility has ended; empty Routine has ended; much has ended. This, as with a Trump of Doom, has been proclaimed to all men. They are the wisest who will learn it soonest."
p 277 "The world does exist; the world has truth in it, or it would not exist!"
p 291 "The sun flings-forth impurities, gets balefully incrusted with spots; but it does not quench itself, and become no Sun at all, but a mass of darkness!"
p 309 "For an hour the whole Universe seems wrapt in smoke and flame; but only for an hour. It goes out: the Universe with its old mountains and streams, its stars above and kind soil beneath, is still there."
The Hero as a Man of Letters:
Quoting Fichte, p202 The Divine Idea of the World "lies at the bottom of all Appearance. To the mass of men no such Divine Idea is recognisable in the world; they live merely among the superficialities, practicalities and shows of the world, not dreaming that there is anything divine under them. But the Man of Letters is sent hither specially that he may discern for himself, and make manifest to us, this same Divine Idea: in every new generation it will manifest itself in a new dialect; and he is there for the purpose of doing that."
p 220 "The living TREE Igdrasil, with the melodious prophetic waving of his world-wide boughs, deep-rooted as Hela, has died-out into the clanking World-MACHINE."
The Hero as Priest:
p 151 "The Priest, too, as I understand it, is a kind of Prophet; in him too there is required to be a light of inspiration, as we must name it."
p 167 "There was born here, once more, a Mighty Man; whose light was to flame as the beacon over long centuries and epochs of the world; the whole world and its history was waiting for this man ... The Age of Miracles past? The Age of Miracles is forever here!"
