Jan. 29th, 2008 07:27 amAfter quite a lot of work, I have decided that the banjolin is unplayable and there is nothing I can do about it. I've strung it up and everything, but it will unfortunately remain merely an ornament and thus is staying in Turlock. I feel a bit mournful about it, but I am glad it wasn't thrown away. The state it was in, it could have gone either way. I replaced the vellum, sanded it down and repainted/varnished it, replaced and doubled the number of tuning pegs, strung it up, got a new nut and bridge, and eventually took out all the frets because they were heading that way anyway. Goodnight Irene, goodnight Irene, I'll see you in my dreams.

Right, my laptop's going to be packed up in a wee bit, so Edinburgh folks - see you soon, I hope. Number's the same.
